Re: I hope to God this is standard - AQo
There are so many draws that he can weakly check-call on the flop, especially if you're willing to check behind on the turn and fold the river, that you absolutely need to bet this turn. He's passive enough that you can fold to a checkraise as it'll be a good Kx (KQ+ or 7x more often than not). He could easily have spades, QJ, QT, as well as hands that beat you but won't checkraise (9x, weak Kx hands). The play here is to bet, fold to a checkraise, and check behind the river UI. If the Q falls after you bet the turn and he checks, I'd bet for value intending to fold to a raise again.
So yeah, this hand definitely isn't standard. Rob |

I would call the river against all but the most passive players.

Why would you fear a check-raise on this board holding AQo? You have no real draws to continue with, so getting check-raised shouldn't bother you at all.

Re: I hope to God this is standard - AQo
The flop being draw-heavy is what makes the turn bet correct, right? Or is it not worth even being concerned about the chance of being folded out of a hand we have outs in (if we're c/r'd on the turn)?

I think you're good often enough to call here. He may have hit his Qx hand on the river - and you beat his kicker.

I actually like the turn check. [/ QUOTE ] I would bet this turn, mostly because I think I have the best hand and I want to protect it. I also don't take free cards when I should, so take my advice with salt in the wound. |
