I def get what curtains is saying here. I really discovered the meaning of tilt when I started playing NL 6-max. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah like you can decide to call a raise with 74s in some weird spot when its basically wrong, but you can convince yourself its not wrong by much...and then you flop a seven and etc etc, all kinds of weird things can happen that can be very costly. In sit and gos....I just don't see how any kind of signifigant tilt can occur if you are good at emotional restraint. |

Dude there is no chance I could go on tilt in a sit and go. Every now and then I might make what is a slightly sketchy call against a regular, but the effects of a posible longterm "tilt" are negligible. I just can't imagine what would cause me to make plays that I know are mathematically incorrect. It's much easier to go on tilt in other forms of poker IMO because you can be a lot more creative before the flop. [/ QUOTE ] Yea this is true. I can't remember the last time I went on tilt in a SNG. I have played really really drunk and it still doesn't happen. It's really hard to tilt in a SNG if you know what ur doing. In a cash game though ill lose like a $500 pot cause I felt like making a move THIS hand... so bad. |

Im not saying that you tilt. Im just saying that I find it hard for you to see how "one" cant tilt in a sng.

Yes but lots of good players admit to it, which is why I was shocked by your statement. I think it is the first I dont tilt evar statement I have read on this board.
Also, SNGs arnt all math based pushing on the bubble. |

It is really hard to tilt in a SNG in my opinion also. The only time might be when I'm ITM or heads up and I just keep pushing cause I don't want to play anymore. However, that strategy might be optimal depending on the opponent.

Lets put it this way: I find it hard to imagine how a good player can go on tilt. [/ QUOTE ] As we are all probably aware, people tend to overestimate their poker abilities. yeah, a truely "good" player may never go on tilt, but I'm pretty sure that there are players who think they are good, and in turn blame what is shoddy play on variance. But *I* never go on tilt |
