Re: Most unlikely career -- Robin Williams vs. Tom Hanks?
[ QUOTE ]
Tom Hanks is a brilliant actor. Have you actually watched Philadelphia, Apollo 13, Forrest Gump, and Saving Private Ryan? Watch, especially, the scene in FG where he asks if little Forrest is smart or not, and the scene in SPR after the medic is killed. There are very few actors who could do what Hanks does there. And Robin Williams' style may not set right with everyone, but the man is supremely talented. I would like to point out that when Johnny Carson chose the two guests for his final Tonight Show ever, he picked Robin Williams and Bette Midler. [/ QUOTE ] I agree with all of this. I think Tom Hanks is one of the most talented actors out there, and he's particularly brilliant in the movies you mentioned. |

Re: Most unlikely career -- Robin Williams vs. Tom Hanks?
Both of these guys have had amazing and deserving careers. Nobody has ever cast either of them in a movie simply because they happened to be famous, a la Colin Farrel, or because Hollywood was trying to create pop culture talent, like with Orlando Bloom.

tuQ: My bad... I'll buy the beer. I still think you are WAY wrong about RW and are slightly incorrect about TH... but I see your point and I shall cease with my personal attacks [/ QUOTE ] FNC, how's about I buy the beer and you buy the cheese fries, and we find a way to expense both? That woud both help corporate america and make us look like we're both doing business. Also, thanks for actually getting my handle right. |
