I knew this was too good to be true. First day I ever looked for Arbs and there were a [censored] of them and they were pretty big. I was planning on starting out at Pinnacle and BOS, should I pick another site that doesn't deal dual-lines? Recommendations?

[/ QUOTE ]
there is technically no such thing as a perfect "square" sportsbook to arb against. if they offer too much of a combination of easy bonuses, low juice, slow lines and high limits, they would not be able to survive financially. so there's give and take with all of these attributes, and different people prefer different things. then there stuff like customer service, cashout speed and fees, max withdrawal amounts, site interface and layout, wide selection of sports and other events, early and overnight lines...you see how much goes into this.

having dual lines is not a kiss of death. just means that like you experienced, betting seems exciting when you sign up, and then they change up on you suddenly. Bodog Sports has been known for this practice for a long time, for example. however, Bodog also has a rare policy of giving reload bonuses to net positive accounts even after they withdraw profits, so many scalpers will keep going back there with a thousand or two just so they always have some bonus pending (kinda like the UB of bookies I guess).

the first place to start would be a pseudo-affiliate watchdog site like sportsbookreview.com or sportsbookpal.com. anything well reviewed at those places should be worth trying out.

yes, its not very efficient way to get the most out of a bonus

[/ QUOTE ]

It is when you consider time.

[/ QUOTE ]

false.

if you're not willing to put your free play to better use, go ask yourself why you're in a sports "betting" forum.

[/ QUOTE ]

You aren't considering the time it takes to roll over a bonus, being able to get reups and bonuses from other books, exponential growth, etc. Getting maximum value from a bonus is not necessarily the most profitable option. Feel free to sound like less of an arse in the future.

[/ QUOTE ]

bonus != free play. it's fine for you not to understand the difference, but you don't have to insult those who do.

it might not be Thee most efficient way to get the most out of a bonus, but i would put forth the idea that there's really not a big difference in EV from doing it the way i did it and shading the bets so that no matter what the outcome, the return of money is the same.

[/ QUOTE ]

ignoring arbs for the moment, let's consider two ways to use a $100 free play. in one case you are getting very favorable odds, the other not so.

example one: betting a 60% favorite at even money

EV = .6(100) = 60

example two: betting a 10% longshot at +700

EV = .10(700) = 70

it should be clear that there are better ways to use free plays than arbing them at low odds.

Betting 2 different teams on the same site for a profit is an easy way to get banned from that sportsbook.

[/ QUOTE ]

Does anyone know if this is true at Pinnacle?

[/ QUOTE ]

It is not true at Pinnacle.

I have a few questions about BOS.

First if I am reading this thread correctly they give better lines to people when they first sign up, then change them to sharper lines if they seem like scalpers. Am I reading into this correctly?

If so, what would be a good way to scalp them? I usually just try to bust out of a place in one bet. Wouldnt BOS be happy if I busted out of them? It seems odd to think that they may sharpen my lines after making a [censored]-ton of money off me! I saw one person suggest just reloading once a month or something like that?

Also, if I just go to their website and look at the lines without signing up, are those the loose or sharp lines?

Good day, Briton

I have a follow on question. Do the sharper lines have more juice? Or are the square lines just really good for one team and really bad for the other team and the sharper lines more fair?
