Second, on the river, the only thing you've listed that Hero is still ahead of is AJ+. Unless the rules have changed and a flush beats a full house (you're also down to K7, fwiw). [/ QUOTE ] Oh... uh... right. We're playing standard rules here. When do I get to be a journeyman? |

Re: Party .5/1 Slow Play Gone Scary!!??!??!
I hope you aren't going to come back and say you lost to a flopped set that turned into a full house, thinking you saved money. If so you should have lost a whole bunch more by playing it properly.

i guess there's no reason i should be any different, so i am going to join in with everyone else by responding to the easiest hand of the day.
great discussion in this thread everyone. this hand deserves many more responses and in-depth analysis. please allow this very interesting hand to stay at the top of the forums so that everyone can integrate the key concepts we've discovered here into their play. |

Re: Party .5/1 Slow Play Gone Scary!!??!??!
As miles pointed out, this really is a no brainer so it doesn't provide that much stimulating discussion. Even OP knows he played it badly, I doubt he needs us to elaborate that much.
Anyway... The player raised preflop and bet out on the flop. Odds are he has a hand he likes alot (a set, two pair with a flush draw, top pair with a flush draw, etc.) you hold the nut flush and he will pay off your bets/raises. You only slow play when you think they will fold to a bet or a raise, otherwise you just bet. The flop call is ok, I probably wait till the turn and the larger bets to raise, but you will LOSE alot more money slowplaying hte micros then you will lose if you NEVER slowplay. I never slowplay the micros anymore and I save many many bets when someone flops a monster against me and won't raise me. |

Re: Party .5/1 Slow Play Gone Scary!!??!??!
i would have raised the turn to start extracting profit and on the river to see where i stood. at that point i think its your only scared of queens i dont think he would be betting King rag. call down seems ok for you considering you dont know what he really has.

[ QUOTE ] at that point i think its your only scared of queens i dont think he would be betting King rag. call down seems ok for you considering you dont know what he really has. [/ QUOTE ] i thought you said you would raise the turn. can you please elaborate? i found this hand very interesting and i dont think enough in-depth analysis has been done to quantify the EV of calling down versus raising the flop or turn. this hand calls for a gathering of great poker minds. |
