I'm getting my wisdom teeth taken out tomorrow, so I will be taking some Vicodin for the next couple of days (Obivously as little as possible, so I can move the extras on the streets).

Is it common to be prescribed 2 or more different antidepressants at the same time? I didn't think adding another antidepressant would be more effective.

My shrink almost did that for me. But just before she was about to switch me, they came out with Cymbalta, which apparently does the same stuff that the Effexor+something i can't remember combo was supposed to. So I imagine it's not too uncommon.

Actually I believe there are 2 classes of antidepressants that work on different receptors and/or in different ways.

I'm not sure why calling it an extra-strength version of Vicodin is so "full of [censored]", it is a higher dose (dose vs concentration is being nit-picky in this instance). Vicodin is 5/500, Vicodin ES (Extra Strength, obviously) is 7.5/750. Looks like there is a new HS (High Strength) that is 10/650. There is also Vicoprofen, with ibuprofen instead of acetaminophen.

OP - how long are you expecting to continue taking the narcotics?

I also take Norco 10, this is preferred particularly for males due to lower acetaminophen dose (liver effects) than multiple Vicodin.

Reason I ask about expected duration: I have suffered from chronic pain for > 12 years, and long-term narcotic use may eventually have serious effects on your general health. Difficult to know the main culprit between chronic pain, or chronic use of narcotics, but I now suffer greatly from Fibromyalgia-like / Chronic Fatigue symptoms.

Would be happy to discuss my experience if this would be of interest.
