"Are you playing better than everyone at your table(s)?"
If I can't answer yes to this question I turn off my computer and do something else. -Tickner |

A lot of these posted so far I hate. Especially the "2pairs isn't worth your stack" or "don't build a pot with TP".
These both suck and I don't think will help. Better IMO is: "DON'T BLUFF EXCEPT CBETS...EVER!!" and "IF YOU'RE PLAYING BAD...STOP" |

[ QUOTE ] Two pair is not worth your stack [/ QUOTE ] I hate statements like this. You can't evaluate a hand like 'two pair' or 'top pair' absent the texture of the board, your opponent, your image, the action etc. There are times to fold big hands and there are times to felt middle pair or TPGK. [/ QUOTE ] I couldn't agree more, but this pretty much applies to all these one liners. I did say "obviously they don't always apply". This one in particular is very weak/tight, but it worked for me when I was going through a phase of treating two pair like the nuts irrespective of the board or the situation, with predictable results. Having these blanket statements stickied to your monitor is a good way of correcting specific leaks that apply to you, IMO. Obviously if you don't have those leaks they don't apply, and even if you do they often won't apply. If only poker were so easy that good play could be summed up in a few sentences ... |

A list of 10 I have next to my CPU at all times:
1. You have less FE than you think. 2. If you are tired, drunk, pissed off, or distracted, quit. 3. Don't bluff call stations. 4. Don't refresh the cashier button every 10 minutes. 5. Don't slowplay. 6. Always check stack sizes before making a decision. 7. Take notes. 8. Don't be afraid to value bet/raise the river. 9. Don't be afraid to 3 bet light pre flop. 10.If you never fold the best hand, your calling too much. |

[/ QUOTE ] The "don't build a pot with TP" in my OP was specific to a way I've been losing a lot of money lately. I'm too obstinate to actually follow any of these rules all of the time, but having that as a sticky should at least make think twice before doing something that's often bad. |
