Nelly would wear the band aid anytime there was a possibility that City would see him on TV.

Edit: He's not out yet. He is up for parole in May 2008. He stopped wearing it, because the whole thing got too big. It was supposed to be a private message type of thing and it became a part of his identity, so he let it go.

According to him, Nelly did have an entourage and one of them found him at a different table later in the night to tell him, "Nelly wants to know what you had in that hand," and he was sufficiently intimidated that he revealed his holding despite this breach of poker etiquette.
