The coordinator (Jim Johnson) calls in the plays to that guy (whoever he was) who then sends the signals into the defense.

I guess this kind of stealing signals, using a cameraman and listening to radio frequences, is kind of weaksauce, but I'm in favour of the whole stealing-signals thing.

I mean, there's nothing to prevent a team from just physically watching what the other team does, and try to study their signals. I'm not sure where the NFL draws the line on the subject, but it seems like this is getting blown up bigger than it should be.

All,
If taping and watching ran so close in value, why on earth would the Pats even take the chance of getting caught? The risk/reward is all out of whack if you can just watch and get basically what you'd get from a videotape, but I don't know enough about what signals get sent in to understand what extra edge the tape would give.
