Lead Singer from Morphine- Timely death

WTF is wrong with you. First of all dude has a name, it's Mark Sandman. Second, The Night is arguably the best Morphine album and it wasn't even done when he died, he was writing some great material... I think you may be retarded.

Morrisson, now there's a timely death.

Morphine reminds me of the Ramones.
A frigging great band, but one dimensional.
Each album sounds the same, more or less. Just like the Ramones, some albums were way better than others, but they had put out enough work to clearly show they were a band that wasn't going to stray too far from their "sound".

I can't say I'm surprised at your reaction, Morphine seems to attract a certain narrow minded rabid fan type.

Great band, though.

LOL

So even if their sound doesn't change much, if they're putting out their best album at the time of his death (one that incorporates some new instruments and harmonies, as well) how exactly does that make his death timely?

But it's ok for you to be dead wrong if you just make a snide comment about Morphine fans in general... gg

The death of Morphine singer was timely because the band's popularity had peaked and he went out on stage. He went out on top, but if he had lived Morphine would have likely continued what they are doing, but they would not have achieved any more success than they had done so at this point. Otherwise upon his death, the band's success would have EXPLODED, and it didn't.

Compare Morphine to Sublime.
Bradley was dead BEFORE hardly anyone even knew the band existed, but Sublime went on the sell millions and I still see their logo on cars, snowboards, etc. Sublime was no where near to reaching their potential when Bradley died.

Morphine on the other hand had peaked. Sorry to be the one to break the hard news to you.

Your opinion. Really their best albums were 7 years apart, if anything they had been in a bit of a slump with "Like Swimming" and "The Night" was a welcome improvement. And anyway, even if they peaked in terms of popularity, they hand't necessarily peaked artistically. They were never a mainstream band and if they had gone on producing albums as good as, or better than, 'The Night,' you wouldn't have heard anyone say, "I wish Sandman would die in spectacular fashion since they've basically peaked in terms of popularity."

Your criteria are flawed... sorry to be the one to break it to you.
