it pays $55k, but the main thing it has very good prospects, in that it is with one of the top accounting firms in uk (and globe), it will pay about $100k after 3 years, then $150k after about 5 years, then slowly rise with then. in 15 years if i did well i could be on $500k and rising.

thoughts much appreciated.

Expecting to make 100k 3 years in and 150k 5 years in is pretty laughable generally. I mean sure their is the potential to make that but thinking of it as an assurance is pretty far from being true.

I think way to many people automatically assume they'll be making ridiculous money with real jobs by the time theyre 30 while in reality its pretty possible to still be making <100k

I had writted something about my story, but I deleted it. Remove all money related thoughts from your decision process, and do whatever you come up with. Basing your "life path" on a $ sign is the quick road to an unhappy existence.

Poker life is unglamorous, but simple and gives a sense of freedom and control that other jobs probably wouldn't give. I've come to meet quite a few poker players now and I've found that the ones that don't sweat their hourly rate or w/e are the ones that do the best and are happiest.

Here is my quick response:

Obviously, you have to figure this out on your own. I am currently on a leave of absense from my life as a "young professional" (engineering). I absolutely LOVE the lifestyle playing poker professionally has afforded me. That said, I did very well in school, I have 3 years experience, and I am leaving with a good relationship with the company I worked for. I am not burning any bridges.

i like this post most!

op you have a lot of more options:
1) you can work half day in a job what you like, even it is a social thing. the other half-day you play poker
2) you get a job what you like, and play poker besides
3) you play only poker

good luck!

the only other thing is, you basically melt down after having a 2-buyin downswing.

now granted, you must be playing on a euro site that is really easy compared to FTP or PS, but it seems like if you have a real downswing, -10 buyin days, etc. you'll be a mess.
