London is a very nice, albeit quite expensive, place to live. If you can choose any of the London University colleges though, I suggest either UCL, Imperial, or Kings. QMU is a bit out of the way, whereas those three are in the centre of the action, as it were. I've no idea what poker is like in London, never played there.
I studied at Imperial for 7 years so pm me if you have any specific questions.
