uhhh...most pots get to 21$ after the first 3 people act pf.so u got ur 6 or 7 dollar rake/jackpot drop plus 2-5 dollar standard tip 30 hands an hour, that is a ridiculous amount of money leaving the table every hour.the only way to beat this game is to run like god. there are no other options.

If you play a game with no jackpot you will have $2 less per hand going off the table. I know the 5-5 dealer's choice at the Gilpin has no Jackpot, but the only places I am very familiar with are the Gilpin, Lodge, and Ameristar.

correct me if im wrong, but i thought both the loge/ameristar had jackpots...the 5-5 dealers choice sounds like it would be the diamond in the ruff that is blackhawk.i get tilted just thinking about 2-5 and 5-5 holdem. (i probably am just awful at spread limit holdem, but that game feels like u r beating ur head against a wall most of the time)what part of CO are u from RR?

I agree, in the land of no fold 'em hold 'em, it's not unusual preflop to have all 10 players in a hand.

Many of them will continue in the pot all the way to the river, no matter how hard you bet.

Then there are the Asian colusion teams that Frequent the Ameristar, Lodge and most recently, the Gilpin Casinos.

They sit there and talk in their language with each other, sometimes even with the dealers themselves, and when we try to get the rule of 'English only' enforced, normally all it draws is shrugged shoulders from the floor staff.

I truly HATE living in Colorado because the poker sucks sooo badly!

I'm looking for every opportunity to be rid of this place, and move someplace where I can play REAL poker on a regular basis. All I need is a job in my field, in places like Vegas, Memphis, and Louisville, KY (Jimmy Allen runs the best poker room I've ever played in, there at Ceasars Indiana).

There is a social gambling exemption in Colorado that allows private games to run. Raked games are illegal and you should be very careful in them. There are a few games in Boulder. The country clubs are where the big games are located and are by invitation.

actualy i just got a pm on this very subject. ur a floor at the gilpen? u should def include that as a disclaimer when advising people to go there. i have sat there and watched people tip a min of 2$ every single pot.what do ur dealer pull in on tips?i discussed this with a women who previously delt in black hawk but now works in vegas and she 100%agreed that she much much more in black hawk.RR in your honest opinion is 2-5 spread(holdem) beatable in blackhawk? if u have what is you win rate and sample size bb/hr plz.i would guess that around 230 dollars leaves the table every hour on any given night...but again u would know better than me. how much would u say is flying off the table?

I cannot discuss how much leaves the table. I would consider Black Hawk the best market in the country to deal in. I would have to say the 2-5 is very beatable. The rake is not as heavy in some markets and it plays much larger than a 3-6 game. I haven't been here long at all so I do not have significant personal records, but knowing games that play smaller with a larger amount coming off the table I know the games have to be beatable. I have not had a losing session yet in Black Hawk, but I have only played here 5 times. I don't know if there are any games up here besides our 5-5 choice that do not have a bad beat; I am not overly concerned with what other casinos are doing. As far as providing a disclaimer I think that would be excessive advertising as I am sure any regular readers of this forum would say that any poker room I am involved with is going to be better than the ones down the street.

RR, are you floor at the Gilpin?

If so, you should disclose, and disclose the fact that the Gilpin is owned by The Lodge. Which in a previous post I accused of "knowingly harboring" the Asian collusion going on in the 5-5 games. In which you "Mod noted" that: This is very serious allegation to make. It is also very common for players that can't beat loose aggressive games to claim there is cheating. -RR}

Most definitely a conflict of intrest going on here in my opinion!

Playing there for over 3 years I know for a fact that The Lodge Asian collusion is real ... and so does the management and dealers and most definitely other players. I wish you guys (managment) would actively persue this... remember you can refuse service to anyone for any reason! People are kicked out of casinos all the time for even the SUSPICION of cheating (or even winning too much- see Richard Brody!).

Just last week there was a large brawl in the casino over this very issue (several arrested)... I'm sure you know about this?

They tip well and feed the slots... so I guess money talks!

Hopefully January's smoking ban will thin em out a little

I have played in Black Hawk for about 3 years a couple times a week and some of the tourneys are not bad at all. Tuesday at Station is $225 + $105 rebuy and you get 10k in chips, thursday at Gilpin $200 and you get 15k in chips, and all weekend at Gilpin you get great payouts. Friday is $50 with 9 $50 rebuys which leads to a great prize pool, Saturday is $100 +$100 at 3 and $100 + 4 $100 rebuys at 7, and then the best tourney of the weekend is the 3pm which for $300 gives you 15k in chips and 30 minute levels and good structure.

RR,
If you reply with the standard "prove it" or "this is hard to prove" - I will respond with a laundry list of examples. So please lets not waste eachothers time!

I, and many others, simply don't play there anymore because of this... but I still stand by my accusation.
