Its a little desperate, but as long as they didn't give up a real prospect then I really don't see it being a huge deal.

[/ QUOTE ]

You realize that Kendall has epitomized suck this year, right? They basically gave the A's a prospect and cash for free.

[/ QUOTE ]

The Cubs get the cash, the cubs get the cash, the cubs get the cash.

Hah. Sorry, I didn't see your post before I replied.

Curious what Florida's GM has to say about this.

This isn't that bad of a trade. The Bowen trade was terrible. This one isn't that big of a deal at all. Hopefully, the new team in a pennant race can rejuvenate Kendall for a few months and help the Cubs like Gary Gaetti in 1998.

a below-replacement level catcher who has bad D = not a big deal?

[/ QUOTE ]

Its not a big deal at all. This trading junk for junk. Unless the prospect is significantly better than we know, the cubs gave up little and got little.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is the last year of Kendall's deal right? It isn't like they just took on a long term anchor of a contract.

[/ QUOTE ]

no, the cubs gave up SOMETHING to get LESS THAN NOTHING (replacement level)

You can yell and scream all you want, but a small deal doesn't become a big deal just because it is bad.

Rotoworld reports Rob Bowen included.

Nice little pickup. Bowen isn't much, but he's certainly better than your average backup catcher, and he's nice insurance for Suzuki. Nice move by Beane (as always), though it would have been a nice move even if the Cubs paid just $1 for Kendall.

no one said it's a big deal. just because it's not a small deal doesn't mean it's not a big deal. the cubs have a very legitimate chance of overtaking the brewers, and half a win to a win lost by [censored] deals like this are significant enough to bitch about like most people in this thread are aptly doing.
