J Brown,

JT is awesome and the whole world knows it.

My addition: Tegan and Sara. So bad, but whenever they come on the radio I can't turn it off. (a HS station here plays them a lot)

The guy has done absolutely everything right to transition from 'N Sync to where he is now. Picked the right producers, banged the right chicks, said the right things. Very impressive.

JT Anecdote: I was at Chicken Zankou with a friend (it's an Armenian joint in LA, best schwarmas and roast chicken ever), it's kind of ghetto but the food is fantastic. Anyway in walks JT who gets in line behind us. Line is long and he strikes up conversation with us, about how the line is always long but worth it for the food. Comes off as a friendly, nice guy.

Anyway turns out JT is at Zankou to pick up a bunch of food for his staff for some production company he started. I thought that was pretty cool considering what a huge star the guy is.

Zevon would make my list too...but I think he got some critical acclaim....Lawyers Guns and Money....one of the best songs ever. Also check out the Hindu Love Gods, where Zevon is Vocalist w/ REM, minus Stipe.

yeah i considered zevon a marginal addition to the list, i think a lot of people from my generation (in their twenties) don't really know who he is, and other than "Werewolves of London" he doesn't get any radio play

Warren Zevon actually got a fair bit of critical acclaim. He just never sold a ton of records after about 1980 or so. The same could be said for Graham Parker, pretty much.

Anyhoo, we used to cover "Lawyers, Guns and Money" all the time when I was playing in Jealous Lover Targets. That song is pure brilliance.

He's also been in some of the best sketches(and by that I mean actually funny) on SNL.
