With that said, my rent is only 400 bucks a week. The only goal I set for myself starting this was to be able to make rent with only 1 weeks worth of play. I've exceeded that, which is great,

Is your math off, or did you mean to say that your rent is 400/month? 400/week is 1,600/month which is less than 1,200, and having a goal of making the weekly rent with a weeks play does not make much sense to me.

Some places the max is 200, some 300

[/ QUOTE ]

Where NicksDad & I play, it's uncapped.

[/ QUOTE ]

I learned that this is not true.
Horseshoe-Tunica 1/3 NL is $300 max buy-in (according to chipr777) and I assume the same for the Grand.
I think it was capped when it was 1/2 as well but am not sure.
I thought the same as you that ALL NL in Tunica is uncapped and was informed that this was not the case.

would not surprise me if Gold Strike 1/2 NL had a cap on it now also although I'm not really sure. You or NicksDad might know.

Seems that 2/5 NL is the uncapped game whereas 1/2 or 1/3 NL actually does sometimes have a cap.

Congrats!!

I am trying to build my BR now by playing 1/2 $200max and I hope that one day I wil be able to play poker for a living.

I have already doubled my BR in my 6 trips to the Casino, so I guess I am off to a good start. I am going to Tunica in 2 weeks to try and double it again. WISH ME LUCK!!

Wow, that is cheap. I'm not up to date on rents where I live (Seattle), but a couple years ago a decent one bedroom in the city would have run $1,500+.

Congrats on the results. I am basically break-even over a micro sample size at 1/2 live. Gotta stop overcommitting with top-top.

Just curious, but since you are running at $40/hr, wouldn't it make more sense to just get a cheap room in AC? Between the 3 hr round trip and the cost of the bus ticket, it seems like you would make out better that way.

The bus is only 15 bucks round trip. If I got a hotel room I'd be cutting into my profit for the day hehe. I absolutely hate hanging out in casinos if I'm not in the poker room and by the time my session ends, I can't wait to get home. Gotta hangout with the girlfriend at night or else I'd be in the doghouse. I honestly never commit many chips with top pair. I've learned my lesson online doing that sh*t.

good luck to you. i've there and done that. stay away from the pits and don't forget about the ones that supported you from 2+2, if you ever make it to the 1k-2k games at the bellagio.

As much as I'm embarrasse to say this but I think Mike Matusow said it best when he said something like "people talk about how easy it is to make it in poker for a living. Let's see how they act when the cards have been slapping you in the face for 3 weeks."

[/ QUOTE ]

Hah 3 weeks is nothing, i'm going on 10 months.

I don't think the 400 dollar stop loss is the way to go. If the table is good and you take a couple of bad beats why would you call it a day. If you are the Pro you claim to be you should be able to avoid tilt. Get up walk away for a little while sure. Why call it a day if you have +EV at the table. Mark Blades book goes into detail about tilt and playing through. After all this is what defines a pro. Just my 2 cents.
