"We have switched to a new check processor as a result of recent events. This switch has come with a few notable changes for all players in the USA:

1) The maximum you can request on any one check is $10,000. If you wish to cash out more than this, you will need to use an alternate cashout method. Please contact security@pokerstars.com for more information about which options are available to you.

2) All checks, regardless of the amount, are sent by Express Mail - we can no longer deliver checks via UPS, FedEx or any other courier service, even if you are willing to pay the fee. Please note that Express mail does not come with tracking numbers for their deliveries, so we cannot provide tracking data for your check.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

Regards,

PokerStars Support Team"

First of all whatever you do, DO NOT GO TO THE POLICE WITH THIS. Absolutely no GOOD will come of it for anyone (especially you!). If you discuss this matter with ANYONE do not bring up online gambling, poker or anything related. The worst case scenario is its a merchant refund check or a commission for a service.

Here is what you need to do to avoid any trouble at all. You email Poker stars about the issue (which you did). They will without question put a stop payment on that cheque and pay you out another way (or they will send a new one which you obviously will deposit at a different branch). When you get these cheques just use an ATM to deposit. I would however suggest in this case you receive funds another way. No matter what however you will get your money back unless you decide to do something incredibly stupid like get the police involved.

Thanks

the only way your bank would know right away is if you deposited the check at a branch that the check was written on.

Dude, if stars says it isn't their fault, I'm pretty sure it isn't their fault. It's not like they ended the email with a Enjoy!

What good could come of that? I'm not berating you, I just I dunno. What do you say to police? They took my online poker check?

I think it is interesting because obviously oweing money is a civil money but taking property is a criminal matter.

but what i meant is that I would throw such a fit that it would be inevitable that the police be called in any case, so I think it would be best if I were the one who wanted the police, rather than the bank threatening me with having the police escort me out for throwing a fit.

Please Please Please just ask Stars to cancel the check and have them pay you out another way. Never get the Police involved as they will cause more harm personally for you then you know. If anything arises from this to you in the future don't ever bring up gaming and challenge them on the legitimacy of the check. you can always call the processor and they will vouch that the check is legitimate. this obviously would leave anybody questioning the check with no case assuming you did not give unnecessary information (GAMING, INTERNET GAMLBING OR POKER)

Thanks

thats not the issue. if someone steals your wallet you don't need to tell anyone where you got your wallet before you either take it back or go to the authorities.

personally i've had it with beaurocrats and if they initiate violence with me they're gonna get it back. actually the more I think about it if this happens to me I will start yelling at the top of my lungs (I've sung opera before just messing around so I can be pretty loud) help! I'm being robbed! until they give me my check back.

[censored] i gotta practice before I go to the bank next time so I'm ready.

first of all....why would it be a problem getting the authorities involved? i'm not going to, nor did that even cross my mind, but as i understand it the legislation wasn't passed against the individual users of gaming/poker sites...??

i went back to Wells Fargo today and talked to them for about an hour, attempting to get in touch with Bank of America (the bank upon which the PStars check was drawn) to no avail....we could not get in touch with a BoA represetative.

PStars was supposed to contact my via phone today, but they did not come through with that. I've sent multiple emails, all with responses such as "your request has been forwarded to the proper department", "we contact you as soon as possible" etc etc. However, when my credit card wouldn't work to make a deposit last night, i had a support representative on live chat within 2 seconds, w/o me requesting any support.....

all very frustrating to say the least

I'm just curious - why do people insist on cashing the entire check instead of depositing it into their bank accounts?
