As for concentration, its not possible to concentrate 100% of the time during sessions, especially long ones, so dont even bother thinking you can. Try concentrate in bursts. By that i mean give 100% concentration for 10-15 minutes. Then drift off to pizza-topping land for 1 minute. Then refocus for another 10-15 minutes. Rince/Repeat. Concentrating intensely at a poker table for a prolonged period of time is tiring. Try break it up into "concentration segments" and your mind will thank you for it.

[/ QUOTE ]

This sounds interesting. Did you read this somewhere? If so, where?

First, I just got my internet hooked up, so that's why I've not been around for a couple weeks.

At any rate, when I had problems with this in limit, I used to try talking out loud during play. Narrowing hands, odds, stats, etc.

Perhaps this will help.

Nope. Its what i do. I have the concentration span of a 3 year old child. Always have had.
I try to focus on something for a period of time, drift off, re focus for another period of time, rince repeat.

I suggest 12 tabling shorthanded, fast tables with 50% of your bank in play. This will improve your focus.

If you find you are still thinking of Sama Sosa you might need to switch to collecting baseball cards.

[/ QUOTE ]

Wow, is this serious?

[/ QUOTE ]

I am going to rephrase this.

I imagine that putting your roll on the line is good for focus purposes, however it probably isn't the best idea for your roll. This all boils down to building my roll, so that idea is out for me.

The Sosa thing was a joke... clearly.

Well, with 12 tables you aren't exaclty risking your roll. If you have 50% on the tables then that means you have a 24 buyin roll, which is by most standards a good working roll. I often play with more than 50% of my roll on the tables although I do admittedly have bad bankroll management. I think what he was getting at though is not putting 50% on a single table, but rather 50% SPREAD ACROSS 12 tables.

Sorry, I was referring to an early post he made of putting 100% of my roll on the table. I agree that he meant putting 50% spread across 12 tables, and I don't think that is such a good idea.

Buy "Inside the Poker Mind" by Feeney.

The chapter on "Emotion in Poker" is worth the price alone.
I re read it regularly.

I agree. I thought everyone already owned this classic thats why I didn't feel the need to mention it and mentioned the new book that just came out.

The 100% thing was a joke, though it would definitely make the game interesting
