What could you expect from one who has stated his belief that he has been called by God and acts as if Americans are God's new chosen people?

"Beware those that wholly believe in Biblical revelations, claim to be doing the work of God and also have the big red button to cause said annihilation while breaking at least half of the ten commandments." - netctr.com

http://youtube.com/watch?v=8uBAPbOWLxc .... http://youtube.com/watch?v=9CitfTtMI...ed&search= ... this is why I don't believe in god. Makes a lot more sene than what is passed down the grapevine or the past few thousand years. Remember that phone game where you whisper something in someone's ear and it gets passed on back in kindergarden ? Usually 50th or 100th or more message down the line is way more exaggerated that the initial story.

While I respect you for basing major life posistions/views on the 20 minute bit of a COMEDIAN, I gotta say you've misinterpreted Carlin.

I'm a big fan of his also, but for the most part Carlin is referring to God in the Christian sense, or another religion's sense. For the early parts of that first bit he doesn't say "God is the best bullshitter" he says "Religion is the best bullshitter". His major qualm is with organized religion, which he feels has done terrible things to the world. He was raised as a Catholic, and that's what most of his references are made to.

They are just as hypocritical as 99% of the people who go to church.

I just personally feel that what people feel as the afterlife is BS. I do believe there is something in the afterlife as I find it's hard to believe that you just stop existing after you die. But IMO it's far from what others believe. As he said if 'god' were so great would he have a place to put you to suffer forever if you did things wrong. I don't base 'major life positions/views' on this 20 minute skit. I just remember growing up Catholic with my mom believing in god etc and I just didn't know if I did or not. This video is just a good video for some people to show them, hey look at a 2nd side and think things through then have an opinion on something. That was what my post was pointing to.

The Bible addresses this pretty directly:

11When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"

12On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.'[a] For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

[ QUOTE ]
Anyone else think it's hypocritical when you see Bush Sr or Jr going to church ? I mean they've killed together hundreds of thousands of people throughout the world and to see them going to church just makes me shake my head. Are they really good Christians ?

[/ QUOTE ]

There are millions of other American "Christians" who support aggression in pursuit of American interests.

And no, none of them are good Christians.
