Cue Joe Morgan gimmick account.

Re: A silly but serious question ? prop bet.
Baserunning ability is about more than flat out speed. Reyes is a lot faster, but more importantly he's a much better base runner. I don't think Frank Thomas has hit too many triples in his career.
I'd lean towards Reyes but I don't think I'd be betting on this one. |

Re: A silly but serious question ? prop bet.
First I thought Thomas, then I thought Reyes, but then I thought, when all the land is in ruin, and burnination has forsaken the countryside, only one guy will remain.
My money's on TROGDOR! TROGDOR! |

[/ QUOTE ] by 'baserunning ability' do you mean 'ability to turn'? because other than that it has zero impact on this bet, which is just a footrace that happens to take place on a baseball diamond. |

Re: A silly but serious question ? prop bet.
Are you guys kidding me?
Reyes obviously wins this. He's probably the fastest guy in the league. In fact, he's probably the fastest guy of all time. The best base stealer, hell, even the best player of all time. [censored] Ted Williams. [censored] Babe Ruth. [censored] Mickey Mantle. The only guys who are better than him, you know, are Bonds, Aaron, Mays, and all the rest of the Black players who have been persecuted by the white owners and the white media. But Reyes is the best player in the league, and should win every single MVP vote. Then again, Frank Thomas is black, so I'm not sure who wins this race. Not that I'm saying black people run fast, its just that they're better at everything than the white man. And the Dominican man. Nevermind. |

Re: A silly but serious question ? prop bet.
Ctrl+F "consis" yields no results. Bad gimmick.

Re: A silly but serious question ? prop bet.
[ QUOTE ]
300 pound NFL lineman can run a 4.9s 40 yard dash. Speedy WRs can run a 4.4s 40. Obv this is a 120 foot straight line race and not a longer race with turns, but the difference between a big fat man and a speed burner here is more like 10% than 35%. [/ QUOTE ] Most NFL lineman can't run a legit sub 5 40. That is pretty fat. Thomas probably clocks in closer to 6 if not over. He's old and way station to station. His top end is also slow. Reyes probably has a small edge. |

Re: A silly but serious question ? prop bet.
[ QUOTE ]
Wouldn't it be far simpler to word the question this way?: Reyes starts at home plate; Thomas starts with a 10-foot lead off of first base. Which player gets around the bases and reaches home first? [/ QUOTE ] Yes it would, but it isn't even close to being the same question....?? |

Re: A silly but serious question ? prop bet.
This can be figured out I'm sure. Watch footage of a Reyes inside the park homerun and a Frank Thomas triple
