Re: Waiting for the shoe to...
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] it opens up the picture that poker sites have feared - collusion [/ QUOTE ] This isn't groundbreaking. This is a possibility that most have been aware of since day 1. Welcome to the club. [/ QUOTE ] Don't worry...I joined this club a long time ago. My post was simply to point out that for the first time this was shown on a nationally televised poker show where all the wannabe poker players are. Don't you think that a fair percentage of them (and these are not people who frequent sites like these) saw that? |

Re: Waiting for the shoe to...
[ QUOTE ]
By using different IP's and even subnets there is no way that the site is going to flag you [/ QUOTE ] The site will not flag you on the basis of technical reasons. They will flag you for play that is not justified - ie, excessive raises with weak hands, folds of extremely strong hands, and excessive play with the same person. These are all very easy things to flag. |

Any group that is sophisticated enough to put multiple computers that can't be linked to one location together in order to collude can figure out how to fade those flags. Why are you even arguing this point - it's been known for a long time that this goes on. That wasn't the point of my post. |

Re: Waiting for the shoe to...
i was thinking the other day.. party was/is a huge site and probably had a good amount of resources to dedicate to catching cheaters. i play wpex now and even though i've done well, i'm sure that they have basically no resources to put into something like this. definetly something to be worried about.

Re: Waiting for the shoe to...
[ QUOTE ]
who cares? If people collude they do it badly. [/ QUOTE ] The point of the OP wasn't whether colluding is going on, but rather if the televised segement would alert the general fish population that it is happening. Our local casino recently installed an automated system to handle chip runner, service and cocktail "calls" from the dealer seat. One dealer said this was in reaction to the legislation that went into effect (they are expecting a large influx of customers). That legislation coupled with televised segments like this could really damage (not end, but damage) the easy money people are making online. |
