i think guys are too obsessed with the ownership of knives and their sharpness. i wish i had a dollar for every time i hit a box to break the tape and already had its contents in my hands when somebody exclaimed DO YOU NEED A KNIFE I GOT A POCKETKNIFE RIGHT HERE YEP TRUSTY OLD POCKETKNIFE SHARP ONE TOO.

lol, that's me! CHECK OUT MY NEW LEATHERMAN WAVE SO AWESOME... WAIT DONT OPEN THAT YET I GOTTA GET IT OUTTA THE SHEATH

I think when it comes to knives, people are either totally obsessed knife-boners like that, or have no clue what a good knife is or how to keep it sharp. They go their entire lives using dull POS knives and taking twice as long to cut their veggies. Those people infuriate me.

Heh pocketknives are awesome. With me, they're something I will use 40 times a day, then not again for another two years.

well at least i can take solace in equally irritating the other side.

they intimate that they cook a lot when arguing though, so maybe i should make friends with them. i either expose the fraud or get something to eat, win/win.

in all honesty i'd carry one if i didn't hate carrying things. maybe i'll end up putting one in my car as a result of this thread.

i don't carry pocketknife because if u go ANYWHERE (airport/sporting event/aquarium/etc) you have to toss it if u don't remember to leave it in your car

I've taken my knife/knives to several different courthouses, sporting events, museums, etc and no one ever knew about it. I wouldn't try to take it on a plane though.

They did, they're just not sensitive enough. I'm sure the airport ones are more sensitive though.

A really good sharp knife should shave the hair off your arm, hand, palm, whatever. Another test is if it will "catch" on a fingernail or thumbnail, although a knife will catch on a fingernail before it will cut hair.

If you really want a good way to get a knife sharp try a Lansky sharpening system. I use one of these with all my hunting knives and it will get them very sharp. Nothing worse than trying to dress out an animal with a dull knife.

Oh Ya, Pocket knives are essential for me! I had a swiss army knife that I just loved that was my grandfathers that I used to carry everywhere. Then I let my wife use it and it disappeared. I am still crushed and need to find a worthy replacement. Thinking about one of those small leatherman pocket knives!
