Re: PBP: Renton Theorem zohmygod
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Is this a new concept? I approach NLHE by playing for the big pots, not grinding out small bets. Deceiving my opponent about the strength of my hand, as well as widening the range of hands he can put me on is always my goal to maximize the profit on those big hands. I play for the big pots. It helps that the live game I play in has tons of implied odds. But is the concept you have conveyed here really a Renton Theory original? If so, I have been implementing your theory without realizing I owed you credit. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Also if it weren't obvious the fact that im even calling it a theorem is basically a joke, because its a super simple aspect of poker that pretty much any decent player understands at least on some level. [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] Yes, quoting a post made after my post in response to my post is kinda silly. I saw that post already, and now for the seond time. thanks. |

Re: PBP: Renton Theorem zohmygod
all right im sick of the discussion about the open limp AA hand. I clearly said that the best play according to the theorem was to open raise, failing that the best play was to just call after limping. In the ISOLATED CIRCUMSTANCE of the fact that we limped AA preflop, calling is more +EV than raising in my opinion.

Re: PBP: Renton Theorem zohmygod
[ QUOTE ]
lol, i chided u for bitching about variance in the context of claiming to be gods gift to poker, and i poked a little fun at the fact that you posted a hand that you absolutely didn't want critique on and were sure you played perfect. I think that in order to have a ridiculously large poker ego you need to be prepared for the baggage that comes with it, part of which is being made fun of a little for being ridiculously egotistical. [/ QUOTE ] I don't mind being made fun of for being ridiculously egotistical (heck I expect it), just realize that if you do it to me or anyone else, you aren't going to get helped by them. And I didn't want critique on the pre-flop play because I had my reasons I would have rather not shared for a variety of reasons, I wanted critique on my postflop play. |

Re: PBP: Renton Theorem zohmygod
You just posted two hand examples demonstrating your "theorem", and a few posts later you are already sick of the debate on those examples? Im here to learn just like most of the posters here, so when I read a statement like:
[ QUOTE ] Suppose we limp, limping AA should be in every players arsenal. [/ QUOTE ] I get curious. How often should you limp EP with AA, and what hand range do you limp EP with. This isnt a worthwhile discussion? I am debating the merits of adding limping with AA into my "arsenal". |

I beg to differ.
Epip is very egotistical but I would like him to continue posting (maybe not in this thread) because he's very good and I hope to learn more from his posts. |

[/ QUOTE ] i just think discussing the merits or limping AA is pretty irrelevant to the topic. As far as how often to do it i would say less than 5 percent. Table conditions must be in place. Unless of course you have a lot of open limping in your game (i don't) in which you should do it significantly more (maybe like 20-25%). |
