Reading this article made me wonder if the same kind of zealotry that's been attacking smoking as evil and bad for society in the last decade especially, will start attacking all the things in our westernized diet that lead to obesity. Hell, their should be commercials in front of fast food places with 100's of body bags because because obesity kills!

Have you not been noticing the trans-fat lawsuits and legislative rulings that have been popping up?

Still, overeating doesn't affect others' health, directly, unlike cigarette smoke. So, there may be less of an aggressive response.

new york has already banned trans-fat, its sickening imo that so many of you fat pieces of [censored] out there cant own up and take responsibility for your actions, I dont care if it is asbestos if I want to eat it, I should be allowed to. I also heard on CNN that California is considering passing legislation requiring professional dick holders in public bathrooms because so many cant hold their own when taking a piss.

Are trans fats linked to obesity, or are they more of a heart disease problem? I don't really even know wtf they are. Are they the tasty kind of fat?

there are these people called "restaurant owners" or "chefs" or "waiters" who should be able to figure out pretty easily when someone asks what kind of oil they are using to fry their french fries in.

Klompy, trans fats are the cheap kind of fat that can be stretched thin over lots of batches for little cost. They also help preserve food AFAIK. Black people love em.

guids, you're retarded. Stay in St. Louis and chomp on your abestos-covered pizza and never enter the real world plz.

im sure Roy Kroc wont be available at most restaurants and youll be asking a 16 year old kid, who most people in OOT complain about his change making abilities, let alone his knowledge of the oils used to make the food.

the 16 year old kid is able to go get his manager, and the manager will def know what kind of oil they are using. your lack of logic is really stupefying. Lets give up our rights so stupid people have an easier time with things. Makes sense.

im being practical and realistic. youre giving fast food workers and the general public too much credit. fast food manager "definitely" wont know the cooking ingredients of the oils used for the food. and the general public wont ask what's in the food, find out it's trans fat, get their big butts in their cars and drive down to the next fast food joint and ask the next manager the same question until they find a non-trans fat joint. theyll just get their fast food and eat it.

do you propose we do away w/ health codes so there is no government interference in that? it would be up to the individual to determine if a restaurant has proper standards? he could ask a few questions and if he wasnt happy, leave. no more government regulation in that.

"Let's give up our rights..."

this isn't some great privelige I want to preserve - eating a heart-attack inducing, obesity-causing meal so a restaurant can save a few pennies.

This is what I dont understand. EATING IS THE MOST BASIC THING A HUMAN DOES ON A DAILY BASIS AND IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR OF LIVING A HEALTHY LIFE. ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT YOU WANT TO MAKE EXCUSES FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE TOO STUPID, LAZY AND/OR FAT BECAUSE THEY DONT WANT TO DO THEIR DUE DILLEGENCE? WTF?

the health code issue is a very very retarded analogy. The general public isnt allowed in the kitchen of a restaurants, there is no way to know, so the codes are a good thing. And not all "A" resturants are clean and/or sanitary either so it really doesnt apply at all.
