will stars do sats for this?

NO WAY will Stars do sats for this after the French Government just
screwed them over with the cancellation of EPT Deauville.

And all you guys who are looking at winning satellites on UB or FTP
should be aware of something. It is against the law in France for any
entries to a live event to be paid for/sponsored by an online poker room.
In Monte Carlo last week, there were brochures written up by the WPT and
Aviaiton Club descrbing the schedule and promoting the event. It stated
very clearly that ALL events in the Aviation Club are "Online Free" (meaning
no online sponsorship of any kind) and that if anyone claims he won
his entry online, then he will be disqualified from the event.

Also, notice that FTP is not registering you for the event, but rather
depositing cash (in dollars) into your FTP account, and everything else
is up to you.

I wouldn't bother with this event unless you are on your way back from
MC or Dublin and have an extra 10,000 euros in your pocket that you
are trying to get rid off.

If you are content with playing for second place, go.

I might go if I make like 40k this month. I just want to see Paris and would probably just play SNGs or satellites or something for the main event.

Yes, I know I could get someone to back me but I don't play that jive.

I don't see how I can reasonably "claim" otherwise...and to whom would I "claim" such a thing, anyway? FTP and UB are quite clearly running satellites for Paris (although FTP is apparently complying with the law and thus creating a semi-absurd situations for players who won the seat), so where's the rub?

How is UpperClassPoker (apparently the site affiliated with UB for the satellites) handling my buy-in, does anyone know?

Edit, re: claiming to have won your seat online: So, what, if I'm talking to another player at the table...and I'm like "yeah I won my seat on UB couple months ago" and someone (who?) overhears this...then, what? I'm disqualified? lol? Why the [censored] can't we just live in a rational world.

What's the question? On that map of hotels, the Aviation Club is indicated by AF, basically in the middle of all the hotels.

Edit: The Aviation Club is not attached to a hotel, since that's what I think you were asking...it stands alone on the Champs-Elysses.

Ah, I thought one of the hotels was hosting the event, and I was going to try to stay there.

Just received this email:

Dear WPT Player,

We regret to announce we have canceled our plans to film the Grand Prix de Paris tournament, which will still be held as announced at the Aviation Club de France, May 6 - 11, 2007. Due to gaming regulations in France, we did not receive assurances in the time needed to proceed with filming the event. We continue to work with Parisian officials to obtain permission to film at the Aviation Club at a later date. We have a great relationship with the WPT Charter Member Casino and look forward to resuming our tour stops in France.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and look forward to seeing everyone on May 19th at The Mirage, Las Vegas for the first WPT Season VI event – the Mirage Poker Showdown. For the most up-to-date information on our Tour Schedule, please visit www.worldpokertour.com/tournament.

Regards,

The WPT Team
