Frankly I'm shocked this hasn't been mentioned yet. For one period of three weeks, Danny Manning showed the world that basketball is NOT a team game.

Walton's final game against Memphis, 21-22.

You beat me to it. That was as perfect and dominating performance as anyone could play in the game of basketball.

Michael Johnson in the 1996 Summer Olympics. No one was even in the picture against him in either the 200 or 400 and 19.32 is still completely untouchable. I guess I should throw in Jesse Owens in the Berlin Olympics as well.

Hermann Meier crashing spectacularly in the downhill then coming back to win the Super G and Giant Slalom in the Nagano 98' Games was pretty badass as well.

Ali against Frazier in Manila. The stakes were the highest of all and Ali pulled it off despite being close to dying.

Mark Messier, Game 6.

[/ QUOTE ]

Funny this was actually the conference finals, not the Stanley Cup - but I was thinking the same thing.

Messier guarantees victory and gets a third-period hat trick to come from behind to win.

I can't think of a better definition of clutch.

As much as I hate him, Terrell Owens' 2004 season SuperBowl was pretty awesome. Not the BEST, but those have been mentioned already.

[/ QUOTE ]

this is probably not in the top 100.
