How are only 3 of 83 responses "Pay for it and drop it"? And one of them is me?

Maybe I don't understand the single enormous paragraph.

You borrowed the equipment from Friend A, and then you let Friends B, C, and D use it. Friend D broke a stick and refuses to acknowledge that he did it.

If that is correct, it doesn't matter how the stick got broken. It was under your care, and you owe it to Friend A to replace it. What happens between you and Friend D should not affect your responsibility to Friend A.

I say pay Friend A or buy him a replacement, then Friend D does not get to join in any more reindeer games. Not until he mans up and admits fault while paying you back.

The approximately twenty percent of respondants who said "Take no responsibility" are immature douchebags, since of course the person who borrows an item is the one responsible for its safekeeping and return. OP should pay the owner for it, and then beat anger boy about the head and face until he reimburses OP for the cost.

If the "friend" who broke it was one of the original borrowers, then OP has nothing to do with it. If the stick was broken by another friend who borrowed it from the OP, then yes the OP should pay the original owner and then get reimbursed from the "friend" who broke it.

Wasn't there a rule I made that any question that can be adequately answered in three words or less doesn't deserve to be a thread?

Kill your friend.
