Sarah McLachlan is one of my favorite female artists, but I don't think I'd list her among best vocalists. That's reserved for those like Krauss, prime-time Houston, etc. Others like McLachlan, DiFranco, and Morissette are great - and I'd rather listen to them than Houston - but not top-flight vocalists. |

Until I discovered country music a few months ago, I never owned anything by female vocalists. But country female vocalists are incredible. My personal fave is Lee Ann Womack. Krauss has a better voice, but I like Womack's songs better.
