I agree that higher diamonds aren't likely to be a concern, however if the diamond comes, and someone bets do you just call or pop if for value based on the read of these players? I would lean towards just calling.

3bet, i don't think it's close... it also makes things much easier if you hit and there are bets in front of you...

Commerce 20, good game.

Two early limpers, I limp along in MP2 with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Folded to SB who completes, BB checks. 5 to the flop.

Flop is J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB checks, BB bets (LAGgish Asian lady from my KK post), UTG raises (seems like an idiot fish), EP2 cold-calls (loose passive bad lady), I...

3-bet for value+free card? Call and re-evaluate on the turn? SB in this hand, by the way, is an insane maniac who never folds.

[/ QUOTE ]

I raise on this flop. You have so many outs you probably have an equity edge on this field. You will keep at least two of them, which you need for this to be a value bet. Then you may have the option of a free card if they check to you on the turn.

Hopefully you are not against a bigger flush draw. There was no preflop raise so a set of jacks is unlikely and probably not a set of sevens out there either. There could be KJ, QJ, or JT, or maybe some sort of split two pair. If the board doesn't pair all your outs are probably in good shape.

I go for call and reevaluate on turn. I dont think a 3 bet will necessarily buy you a free card.

[/ QUOTE ]

The free card would be a bonus, I think -- the real reason to 3-bet would be for value. If all 12 outs are clean, then I have 46% equity in a 5-way pot. If we discount half of those outs because a bigger flush draw might be out, then we still have 23% equity in a 5-way pot. RIO might indeed cost us somewhat (although I don't think we necessarily have to raise a river diamond if someone donks into us) but given that we're putting 20% into the pot on this street, it seems upon initial assessment that we have more than enough equity to jam this. No?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes. I'm right with you.

Jam-it. I might raise preflop if I could pick up on at least two folds toward the button.

Don't you think you'd get more bets in on turn if you hit your card? if you 3-bet chances are someone might fold (which sucks) or you get turn checked to you if you hit straight / flush (which sucks). That's why I think raising / calling are close here.

I like a call. Raising and then ch'ing behind is one thing. If I 3 bet that flop and it takes the lead I'm auto betting the turn. I think ch'ing the turn is weak play. Maybe I'm wrong.
