I'm not going to come here claiming to be God's gift to poker. I think I'm average at best and have a lot of room for improvement....

Lipo -

If you feel you know the basics, I would honestly play the 3.40 turbos until ~ 300$ and then the 6.50s until 1000$. Once you have 1000$, follow standard BR management.

Read 5 good topics in SSNL/day and get some standard learning for the turbos on stars in STTF and you'll be fine.

If you ever play out of your bankroll, cash out and quit poker for ever.

Nice post. As you're aware you have a SERIOUS gambling problem. The first step is to stay away from any house games. Secondly, try to wean yourself off the sports betting unless you're convinced you have a signifcant edge. Thirdly, if you really do want to make a go of playing poker, learn good bankroll management. It's also useful if you have someone close to you who can try to regulate what you're doing, so that you don't blow too much money on poker. GL

the day you know you are mature enough is the day that playing on a short roll doesn't sound attractive anymore.

You want to make a buck playing poker? How hard would you be willing to work for it? Would you be willing to grind cash, moving up when your roll hits 15 buyins for the next limit (or whatever the NLHE "benchmark" is) and moving down when it hits 15 buyins for the limit below? If not, then you probably don't want it that bad.

All this "three stacks of high society sorry Mikey I don't have spades I guess I drive the delivery truck now" stuff is silly. Some people are entertained, but nobody's impressed. I have no idea why anyone does this sort of thing to themself. Learn some humilty. The universe doesn't owe you any favors. Get out there and do what it takes to actually get things done.
