Put me in the "the banality of OP makes me too depressed to post a real list" camp.

Personal Favorites

Bus Stop - the Hollies
The Letter - the Boxtops

[/ QUOTE ]

Both so very, very good. The Hollies have about a 3/4 miss rate as far as I'm concerned, but the other 1/4 is pure gold: Bus Stop; He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother; Long Dark Road; Stop, Stop, Stop; Look Through Any Window; Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress).

I also should have had songs by The Kinks and The Doors in my first post.

Time Has Come Today--The Chambers Brothers

I responded to your post because it is the only one with any actually good songs in it so far (except whoever posited Helter Skelter).

The obvious number one song for all times present, past, and future:
Dead Kennedys - Too Drunk To F**k

I mean, really, the title of the song alone renders all others pretenders.

[/ QUOTE ]

This isn't even the greatest Dead Kennedys song of all-time.

You might do well to try Chemical Warfare or Police Truck or Nazi Punks F*ck Off.

Jeez.

Come on, man.

I would sooner nominate "I Don't Care About You," but that's just me.

Of course, you have a point...

New York's alright if you wanna get pushed in front of the subway

New York's alright if you want to freeze to death

New York's alright if you wanna get mugged or murdered

New York's alright if you're a homosexual...

Nice.
