I do NOT think she is particularly pretty. She has a weird, ungainly body (it looks like her arms and legs were stuck on backwards), and her "acting" could be done by a mannequin, or a dead fish.

I know her dad was a bigwig, so maybe she got a jumpstart through nepotism and it snowballed, or something. I just don't get it.

ms. paltrow is a real world hottie. i have seen her in person. tall, thin, great skin, pretty eyes and face.

i mean the farrelly bros. cast her as a "huge" sexy vixen in "shallow hal", she was hot in "shakespear in love" and she looked super duper hot in "great expectations" and "a perfect murder"

she is a leading lady for a reason and probably not because she is a great actress.

Wow, I think you are making a terrible mistake with Joan Crawford.

She became a mega star after getting third billing in the 1932 classic "Grand Hotel". This was an MGM star showcase and her performance in that film was outstanding; one of the best female performances of all time. If you can steal scenes in a movie with Greta Garbo in her prime, as Crawford did, you deserve the status of leading lady.

She may have been scary looking in her later years, but she definitely had star charisma and was a legitimate talent.
