Re: Rake at PAris Casino is $6, Is it the same to other Harrah\'s casin
Bally's has always been extremely donktastic which is why it was one of my favorite rooms. I think it's a little tighter now as more locals seem to congregate there, but regardless, I won't play there anymore just out of sheer principle.

Re: Rake at PAris Casino is $6, Is it the same to other Harrah\'s casin
As I've mentioned elsewhere, all Harrahs' Vegas poker rooms have raised the rake, and they might all have a jackpot drop too. I don't play there any more.

Re: Rake at PAris Casino is $6, Is it the same to other Harrah\'s casin
Harrah's jackpot $1 is taken at $10, which also means you qualify for jackpots with $10 in the pot.
Wynn isn't 10% on the limit tables. I don't recall the exact rake table, but it's like $1 at $10, $1 at $20, $1 at $40 and $1 at $60. Something like that. And it's still $4 max. I chatted with someone at a poker table recently who claimed to be "the guy responsible" for the $5 rake. He's a poker manager at Bally's/Paris and said he wrote a report detailing how the rake hasn't changed in >20 years and spelling out how much more profitable the poker rooms will be with a $5 rake. He claimed Harrah's muckymucks had already approved it when RedRock raised their rake. Sure hope this infection doesn't spread to MGM/Wynn/Venetian. |

He claimed Harrah's muckymucks had already approved it when RedRock raised their rake. [/ QUOTE ] I wonder if he believes that or was intentionally lying. Until very recently the rake in Las Vegas was 5% to $3 on low limit holdem games. The bigger games had a little bit lower rake. I can remember a $2.50 max rake on 10-20. At one time in the past the different games had different rakes with the idea that all poker games would drop the same amount. |

I wonder if he believes that or was intentionally lying. [/ QUOTE ] No one in management at Bally's/Paris knows anything about poker (maybe 1 or 2 floor people know something but nothing above them). However in rooms such as Bally's/Paris which are primarily tourist rooms with very few local regulars the simple fact of the matter is that a $5 rake is probably a money maker. Few tourists will even notice and fewer care. |

I just wondered if he didn't bother to learn what historical rakes were or if he was making stuff up saying the rake hasn't gone up in 20 years. I think in rooms like that a $5 rake is a money maker. I have seen a lot of rooms that would not be hurt by an increase in rake because a lot of the casual players don't even know that the casino takes money out of the pot. |
