Do you mean for real money? If not, then a small group us were playing for Etherbucks on IRC chat in 1994.

I think Paradise was the first site to offer SNGs, around '99 or 2000.
As for PL/NL real money cash games online--I remember 'Stars having them more or less from their kickoff, which would be late 2001; UB may have been first for all I know, but I didn't start playing there until much later on, so I can't say for sure. |

A little off topic, but I can remember when Party's biggest NL game was 200 NL. There was only like 2 tables of it, and the wait list was such a pain in the ass. I wish I still had the hand history, but I saw 2 SOB's get it in with about 3K a piece top set over middle set for the biggest pot I've ever seen in terms of buy-ins. Still one of the most disgusting hands I've ever seen online.
Also, which one of you mofo's is "surferrick"? Anybody who played Party back in the day must recognize this guy. He used to sit 200 NL 24/7 when that was the highest game they had. |

I should have made this distinction more clear when I posted--we had sort of wandered off the OP's question (when was the first NL/PL game spread online), and had started also talking about when the first SNGs had been spread. Yes, those first Paradise SNGs were definitely limit holdem--shortly after that, they added SNGs for all the other forms of poker they were spreading at that time as well (stud, stud/8, omaha, etc). |
