Re: Annapolis Maryland - day trip.
[ QUOTE ]
Give me some cool/fun things to do. Thanks. [/ QUOTE ] So many haters on this thread. I just moved from Baltimore to Silver Spring and make it out to Anapolis when I can as it's real nice down there. If your going during the day just park your car and walk around. Check out the cool boats by the water and have lunch at one of the many outdoor eating areas/bars. While the naval academy is cool to check out and walk around (went there for a wedding this summer.. very cool) I don't think they will let you on base as a civilian if your not there for an event. If you going at night I recommend Pusser's http://www.pussersusa.com/by the water. It's an awesome drinking spot right on the water. Another good night spot is O'Briens, small cover but always a popular night spot. http://www.obriensoysterbar.com/. I hope this helps. -JB p.s. Please post AZK's blog. I am interested in reading it. |

Re: Annapolis Maryland - day trip.
I work in Annapolis. It is a nice looking city, but there's not much to do. Basically: - Tour the state capitol - Eat seafood - Shop for antiques - Maybe there is something to do at the Naval Academy, I have no idea |

I think you should see what is going on in Houston and then do that.

Re: Annapolis Maryland - day trip.
Limited options but....
Go see John Paul Jones' crypt beneath the chapel rotunda at the US Naval Academy. IMO, the coolest thing to see on the campus, since it's well done and guarded 24/7. **To all the nits, this would be the first US Naval war hero, NOT one of the founders of Led Zepplin (course that JPJ is not dead either). Check out the shops, restaurants, and boats at the waterfront area. I wouldn't classify anything in Annapolis as fun unless you're 50+. |

But I do agree there are some nice fairly laid back bars and restaurants. Weekends are more crowded if accompanied with nice weather. |

Re: Annapolis Maryland - day trip.
Go to Cantler's for crabs. It's a few minutes away from the tourist area and right on the water.
The USNA visitor center is decent and they have a nice museum. They have a fantastic collection of ship models, if your into that kind ot thing. You don't need any special credentials to walk on base during visitor hours. You will need DOD credentials to drive on. If I remember correctly the pedestrian gate is #1 and it is about a block from the city dock. |
