Re: is the pottery barn full of idiots?
To OP:
Many stores are changing policies now because of this type of crap people pull. They're going to be charging "restocking" fees and will take them out of the money refunded to you. Say you return a TV to Besy Buy that you bought for $500. They'll charge you a restocking fee and refund say, $380. People who do this crap should be shot on site without a last meal. God I hate people. |

taking them seriously as people. [/ QUOTE ] This is very well put. I've been looking for a way to verbalize what I feel when people do completely absurd things. Thank you, sir. |

Re: is the pottery barn full of idiots?
Elaine - somewhat confused. How is this possibly legal? Maybe your friends justified the ethics of it in their minds... but legal?
OP - I'm surprised that anyone (let alone "principled" people of faith) would be so lame. Especially over $1,500 for a wedding. I'm all for being cheap, but c'mon. Here is a pic of Mormon undergarments if you were curious. -Al |

[/ QUOTE ] What do do they drink? Mountain do of course! actually, according to my LDS (MORMON) friend Jonathan, fruit juice. Although, he said that one of his male friends who wasn't all that up with his religion married a jew, and he said that the mormons didn't realize there was alcohol at the service, and alot of the kids got drunk off of spiked punch. Jonathan doesn't lie, and even if he did I'd want to believe this because a family of drunk mormons is possibly the funniest thing I've heard of. |

My jewish friend went to SLC a few months ago, and he said they looked at him all dirty when he said "hell" or whatever. Couldn't get a decent drink in the place. Not a place I want to be. Ever. Elaine,
Aren't you studying to be a lawyer? I'm quite surprised that you think what your friends did was "totally legal." |

Re: is the pottery barn full of idiots?
I'm guessing the lagality of this is going to depend on how the laws are written in whichever state you happen to be in. But I'm going to side with Elaine on this one, and guess that it's not illegal most places. I walk into a store and say I'd like to return this. They have the option to require a receipt. If they don't, and willingly hand me money, I can't see what laws I've broken. They have the item that they can then resell. On the other hand, I'm talking out of my ass and really don't know for sure.
