I'm sure many have heard of them, but probably a small percentage can name more than 1 or 2 songs. Don't get me wrong; I'm a huge fan, but the average student isn't.

Well I'm in college and what I hear the most is. . . .
1. Air 2. Daft Punk 3. Radiohead 4. Some random Brooklyn 4 guys in ties sorta thing. 5. John Legend 6. Joanna Newsom 7. Kings of Convenience For what it's worth, I've been in college for 4 years and I hate DMB and OAR.

My top 5 (not sorted):
Aerosmith Genesis ELO U2 Billy Joel The bands I hear the most around campus: FallOut Boy OAR DeathCab Radiohead DMB 80s pop like Journey and Foreigner I've maintained that top 5 since high school. Unfortunately, a lot of 70s and 80s hits were ruined for me once everyone in my dorm had downloaded them. I remember playing drunk poker one weeknight and Freebird comes on. After a few chords, this one guy (not drunk) who has listened to nothing but metal before college proclaims "Guys, this is an awesome song," as if the song was an unfamiliar novelty. I shook my head in disbelief, and am doomed to remember this trivial shock every time I hear Skynyrd. At least my favorite Journey song - Escape - is not a popular one by radio standards.
