This reminds me of an anecdote I heard at the beginning of a lecture on imperialism. The professor giving the lecture began by saying that when inivited to a party he inevitably got asked the question "So..the British Empire was a good thing...wasn't it?" He said that when asked this he just stared into the distance and tried to think of how to change the subject... That is a beautiful fireplace, isn't it? [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img] |
