As long as your read of the villian is pretty solid, I like it alot. Any thinking player cant make a call here with a mid pair.

Of course A nitwit would play 8s on this flop like its the nuts.

Sorry, didn't make it clear, agree with raising preflop just think you should raise more. 6 or maybe more given you are OOP.

Agree with Jouster on it not really being a value bet. (Though hand might have some showdown value.) If the villain pushes on the flop you can't call, right?

Ah: Bet, fold to a raise. If called, spike A on the river, win. If called, check river/evaluate.

4d: Check fold. The game is up at that point.

I didnt have much of a read, which make this hand a lot better. But I had seen a few hands from this guy and I thought there was a reasonable expectation of betting this board if I checked to him.

vulture,

Obv raise more preflop, but you've already said that was a multitabling mistake.

On the flop...I like, even without a read. I do this from time to time, but I really do it rarely. A regular cbet from you on this flop is 1 I find semi-thinking players love to pick off, as its so rare for you to hit the flop.

As a result, a play I sometimes make, allbeit VERY VERY rarely (and I'm sure quite a few people here are going to not like it) is bet it out...get minraised and then 3bet. However, you need the right image and a read for this play to be +EV

On flops like thi I always think Damn, surely they can't fold this time... but they usually do.

I like b3b with a (very) solid read. If I think he's floating then I might second barrel or cr turn. It all depends...
