No, man, these guys aren't doctors(FWIW I am). Not worth the risk, Herp 1 turns into Herp 2 all the time.

Why don't you PM me her contact info and I'll see about hooking her up with some [censored], but you should just kind ignore her for a while.

are you a med student? because i'm questioning that herp-1 turns into herp-2. If you mean that oral herpes can be transferred to the genitals, then yeah. But a virus doesn't change 50% of its DNA (hsv-1 has 50% of the same dna as hsv-2) just by magic.

the stats are googled at from http://www.herpes.com/hsv1-2.html. If the test showed that she had hsv-1 antibodies, and not an active infection, then she would be in the majority of the population. Doesn't seem like there is much to worry about

FlyWf's medical experience > your googling skills

i could bust out my medline skills, but googling is so much faster.

blindly taking anyone's advice, especially from doctors, is a terrible idea (something i've learned the hard way). if flywf can show me i'm wrong then fine, but I'm 90% sure he means that oral herpes can become genital herpes. HSV-1 tends to infect the mouth (not always) and HSV-2 tends to infect the genitals (not always). HSV-1 going to the genitals would not be HSV-1 becoming HSV-2. It would just be HSV-1 infecting a different area than it normally does.

As for the testing for HSV-1. They probably ran two tests. First they ran a test for antibodies (the most common and easiest way to test for an illness, because an antibody is designed to bind to one thing thats pretty easy to duplicate and put in an assay). She came up positive for that, but more than half the nation would test positive for it. The second test they ran didn't came up positive so it doesn't seem she's any more dangerous than some random girl you could bump into

FlyWf is right. Herp 1 does turn into Herp 2 all the time. The only way to turn it back into 1 is by banging a girl who has Herp 2. This confuses your Herp 2 into thinking that it's Herp 1 again and it changes back.

Herp 1 will infect the mouth area but not the genetals. Herp 2 will infect both.

this is a common misconception, it is possible for herp I (and other common viruses, like the esptein-barr, the biggest mono virus), to infect the brain, heart, eye, etc etc. rare, but possible

I can't show that you're wrong, but I can show that you aren't a tremendously credible source. Threaded mode, right?

Those that say it aint a big deal, have you ever had a relationship with a girl who had it?

Those of you that have it (hsv1) do you tell your prospective gf's or even random hookups you have it?
