Also, if the 'shotgunee' tries to open the door before driver unlocks it, he loses privlidges.

This just sounds like a way for bitter losers of the game to nit the winner out of his prize.

Didn't read anything else but here are the rules for shotgun:

1. The caller must be outside
2. The caller must be able to see the car
3. If the caller goes inside, his call is invalidated

Question:

If the caller is not able to take shotgun for any reason (i.e the driver needs to take shotgun and someone else drives), if there is a switch and the original driver leaves shotgun, does the initial caller of shotgun get shotgun, or the new caller?

People who don't follow the rules of shotgun are douchebags.

It doesn't say you have to be in sight as long as it was an indoor 'deed.' That's how we've always done it, everyone leaves the restaraunt, the driver must exit, and then you call it. Whether or not the car is in direct line of sight.

We actually used SGTAB (said as Ess Gee Tee Ahy Bee) = Shot Gun There and Back for a while. But then we grew up.

All,

Where is this "in sight" rule coming from? Let's say you park in the back parking lot of a bar- the moment you're out the door is fair game. Seeing the car is of no relevance.

[/ QUOTE ]

this is how i've always done it too

Do you "party" with Warick?

I often call "fat guy shotgun" which is code for "if I have to sit in the back seat, people will be in pain because my ass is large.

Let's get real here, any shotgun rule is arbitrary. We could standardize, or we could just say the driver has the final word.

The point of this thread is that clearly this isn't the case. It's far from arbitary.
