Re: How to Kill the Monster
[ QUOTE ]
Yes, I know there's already a thread on this, but let's start one on how to solve it. [/ QUOTE ] I didn't need to read any further than this. How to solve it? DON'T F'IN PLAY AT PARTY from now on. Simple solution. You aren't going to get the "promotion" shut down no matter how big of an internet army you get. Simple as that. |

Re: How to Kill the Monster
I played the tiny limits today at party and did really poorly compared to my normal... the games seemed extremely tight like 22% vpip max of the ten tables I had open (Poker ace hud and FreePHG rock).. just an observation for the first night of it.. I hope this doesn't become normal.

Re: How to Kill the Monster
[ QUOTE ]
like the promotion or not, it does not represent an increase in profits at all, much less 16% [/ QUOTE ] Party keeps more than 7% of each $.50 drop. That's nothing but profit for them - even if you consider the jackpots and freerolls to be neutral EV, this is a money maker for party and a money-loser for the players. Easy stuff first: From their website: "30% ($0.15) of the $0.50 Bad Beat from each raked hand will be taken to increase the Monster Grand Final tournament prize pool at the end of the hand. The remainder 70% ($0.35) will get added to the Bad Beat Jackpot." When the BBJ hits, Party keeps 10% as an "administration" fee, so of your original $.50, party will keep 10% * 70% = 7% = $.035. But actually, it gets even worse than that. From Party's website on the BBJ: "Every time the jackpot is hit, 70% of the jackpot will be distributed and 20% will be used as a seed for the next jackpot. 10% will be retained by PartyPoker.com as an administrative fee." So, when the BBJ hits, Party keeps 10% and then seeds the new jackpot with 20% of the old amount - the trick is: when that one hits, Party will keep 10% of that one too. So, imagine the BBJ is $100,000 when it hits. Party keeps $10k and seeds the new BBJ with $20k. Imagine the next BBJ hits immediately; party keeps 10% of the $20k or $2k more. The new jackpot is $4k and party keeps 10% of that or $400. So on the original $100k, party will actually keep around 12.5% or 1/8. So, on the Monster tables, party keeps 70% * 12.5% = 8.75% of each $.50 drop (almost 4.5 cents). That's their profit and the players' loss. |

"odious congressmen"
a phrase that needs to become a cliche if there ever was one. |

Re: How to Kill the Monster
Although what about the players who play NL 25 and NL 50, wouldn't they avoid the monster tables even if they are fish?

Re: How to Kill the Monster
Can you imagine all the scumbahs that would join the poker players union but play on party in secrecy anyway?
