Re: Nazis in Atlanta?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] 4. He's a Nazi who did terrible things, and we should punish him to the maximum feasible extent of the law. [/ QUOTE ] not true if his story is true as it almost certainly is. [/ QUOTE ] So, training attack dogs to kill Jews and other civilians fleeing forced labor, torture, etc., is a good thing? It's not like this guy was a conscript. He was in the [censored] SS. |

Re: Nazis in Atlanta?
Maybe I am in a small minority on this one, but I have never been a huge supporter of the claim that "following orders is no excuse." If you are drafted into an army of a brutal totalitarian regime, and if you don't follow orders, you will be killed or sent to prison, wouldn't almost all of us follow orders?

Re: Nazis in Atlanta?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] "Assuming all what? I'd like some proof he has blood on his hands" How about his admission? Or is he suffering from dementia and imagined it? [/ QUOTE ] Please highlight the portion where he directly admits to killing. Do not highlight the part where he admits to training dogs. Highlight the part when he admits to killing. [/ QUOTE ] So what if he didn't directly kill anyone? He just actively participated in keeping thousands of people locked up in horrible conditions. Deport him! Since you seem pretty opposed to the immigration of people whose only fault is being Mexican, I'm surprised that you're willing to overlook black marks like "SS member" and "concentration camp guard." |

It's not like this guy was a conscript. He was in the [censored] SS. [/ QUOTE ] he probably was conscript. SS had conscript units, it even had foreign SS units. a lot depended on whether he came of age at the beginning of the war or the end. of course towards the end the age was around 11 or so. |

Re: Nazis in Atlanta?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] BTW, my gf is of Japanese heritage, her grandfather lives in this country, and he served Japan in WWII. I assume he should be deported too? [/ QUOTE ] Did he "serve" Japan by helping to perpetrate terrible crimes against civilians and prisoners? [/ QUOTE ] No, he served Japan by gunning down US Marines with automatic weapons. [/ QUOTE ] If he did this while openly fighting Marines who hadn't surrendered, then no, he's not considered a war criminal. Which is the same reason we wouldn't consider deporting a former regular infantry machine-gunner in the German Army. I'm not necessarily saying the Nazi the OP mentions should be deported, but your analogy isn't relevant. |
