Although if everyone was an a-hole to each other, then it might get annoying and deter fish. Although in Mid and High stakes, it just antagonizes the fish to keep rebuying.

[/ QUOTE ]

Theres actually quite a good example of this at my local casino, they have a cash game that runs almost every night, its a fantastic game with plenty of loose action to begin with, but everyone is so antagonistic that a LOT of people are put off by the whole thing which leads it to dry up by about 2am. Its always the same people, always one table and I can't help but think there would be a lot more if the games were more civil.

It'll never change down there until it starts being dealer dealt, but the hostility is blatantly ruining action, which is a shame both for the integrity of the game and the pockets of those who stand to benefit.

People who act like [censored] just because they think they will get slightly more monies on average, when they don't really need more monies, are just pathetic [censored]. Justifying deliberately being a prick by saying it maybe +EV and it's in the contect of a betting game is lame.

I think being a dick has its advantages, but I never do it. I go on tilt from people trash talking, not from bad bats, so now I just turn off chat completetly.

In live poker, I think being a dick makes people play stronger as no one wants to lose to the prik.

BW -

Nobody can tell you if it's ethical or not. You have to figure that out for yourself. Don't base your ethical judgements on someone else's belief system.

That said, the times when I have been a jerk in chat I have found that I actually kind of tilt myself a little. I get too emotionaly involved in the verbal warfare, even if it's just because I'm trying to win that 'pot' too. It takes my attention away from the game, and therefore I play less well. Be careful this doesn't also happen to you.

There are a lot of ways to use chat to make yourself more money. I don't really think there's much wrong with it.

OP, to answer your question and most other questions in life, here's my answer:

do whatever makes you feel best.

Guess on average how much better you will feel because of the extra money, and see if it outweighs how much worse you would feel for being an ass

The first time anyone makes a comment that annoys me or even slightly titls me, I insta-block their chat forever.

I also have noticed that when Im the one talking [censored] that it would actualy tilt me more than anything lol
