No mention of that in Jobs presentation. But it has a virtual 'slide' to unlock the screen.

I'm ready to toss my Treo.

Also, one of the very cool uses of the 'multitouch' is zooming in & out of photos (and maybe web pages?) - put two fingers on the screen close together and slide apart, and it zooms in, slide towards each other, and it zooms out.

And there is a virtual keyboard also, with predictive capability.

Nothing is wrong with it. You also won't actually touch the screen due to the embedded proximity sensor technology, and apparently, it will ignore unintended touches.

BT - oh maybe I misunderstood the touch screen patent they were going for. I always assumed that they were using the same technology in their widescreen Ipod - which of course, if you actually touch the screen is retarded.

Can anyone confirm / deny / explain the multi-touch / proximity sensor technology in this thing?

LFS - I've been on Cingular for a while in LA, it's good.
