1) you've chosen to give us NO READ or other info. on the Villian. Is he a 2+2 or a calling station?
2) Assuming he is a decent player, are you going to be right 2/3's of the time? If he has trash, will you get a call? Probably not. If he has CASH (a good hand) will you face a raise that you might pay off? 3) FWIW, the J isn't a good card either. Now you face a 2nd overcard. That card may actually make it more sensible to bet to continue the impression that you could hold AK. So, while not a value bet, per se, the bet may make sense on defense. 4) The board is an unconnected mess. What could the Villian have that you beat? Some of these issues point in different directions. On balance, I don't see decent players calling unless they beat us, check behind. But please, you had information about your Villian that you chose to withhold. That info. could, and possibly should, make all the difference in deciding on the right course of action in a close live situation. |

Plays poorly in general." if you dont want to read what i post please dont give advice. thanks everyone for responses. Reading everyone's opinion, this seems to be a pretty clear check in most instances, so I guess my river play was not as poor as I feared. |
