Default Re: Why Youth Sports are Great

[ QUOTE ]
I don't get why that's such a great story. Make the story a a Div 1 college player who lost track of the count, and it's just sports.

Because the player cried and got emotional? You don't think teenagers and adults don't cry or get emotional during sporting events? Was he any happier than Luis Gonzalez was when he won game 7 of the World Series?

The entire point of the OP, which was fantastic and worth several reads, was that children crying and getting emotional make youth sports great. Children are a hell of a lot more emotional than teenagers or adults.

Obviously it's impossible to really measure but while I wasn't there I would say yes, the kid was probably happier then than Gonzalez when he won the World Series. Certainly the swing from thinking he blew it for his team to the elation of being the hero is much larger.

i umpire 3-4 little league (11-12 year olds) games a week in the summertime, and this story is one of the main reasons why..

i coach jv high school baseball during the spring, and it's refreshing to umpire the little guys...the emotion and determination you see is unparalleled...
