Don't get me wrong, I think Ivey is an awesome player all around. I just think he misplays a few tourney hands here and there. No big deal...

This is a pretty bold statement to make about the best Texas Hold Them player alive. Quite a big deal IMO.

My question is how did he manage to build such a huge bankroll?

[/ QUOTE ]

He started out playing at the Trop in AC w/ his older brother's ID long before Phil was 21. By the time he was legal, he had a half-way decent roll built up and has been going to town ever since.

$50 Mil? Imagine how much he'd have if he'd never learned to play craps. My gf saw him at the Borgata once and she said she watched him drop $500K on dice.

He was doing good, rolling up the limits, then Larry Flynt started having his big Stud game and Phil pounded that and never looked back, this is a quote from Yosh Nakano about how Phil moved to the upper limits.

Actually I was originally going to post the only possible way he did it was taking it from some huge fishes at the higher limits. Makes sense, Flynt contributed to Ivey's bankroll. If Ivey could go HU against guys like Beale all the time, he'll probably be at $100 mil.

The $16 million that he took off Beale while it was pooled money, at least it shows you that he could mentally handled playing at that level.

Sources tell me that Ivey was probably colluding Hu with beale, therefore they both gained a huge edge, I dont think the cash either of them won on that game is attributed to card playing skill.

I highly doubt anyone can make a million in a year at the Trop. What was the highest game they spread back in 2000? 50/100?
