From Phil's blog entry for July 16:
[ QUOTE ] Players like Johnny Chan know that I'm a great all around player, but not everyone in the high limit game knows this. [/ QUOTE ] |

The most annoying has got to be:

Re: Ridiculous Phil Hellmuth quotes
It wasn't concerning his play, but he had a terrible line in one of the recent celebrity poker shows. I believe it was the Jennifer Tilly episode.
He was trying to comment on someone slowplaying a hand and he came up with the line, "Trappers aren't the only ones who wear fur hats." I assume he was trying to make a "not all trappers wear fur" type statement. Instead of insinuating, "it's not obvious who the trappers are at the table," it comes off as if people at the table are putting on fur hats all of the sudden. I assume it was nervousness, but it was painful. Defintely one of the stupidest things I've heard from TV poker. Did anyone else catch this? |

From Phil's blog entry for July 16: [ QUOTE ] Players like Johnny Chan know that I'm a great all around player, but not everyone in the high limit game knows this. [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] That's a crock. Johnny Chan was the one goofing on Phil last season on High Stakes Poker when Phil claimed that he was going to show up at the Big Game with 10 million dollars one day. Johnny busted out laughing and said, "do you know how long that list will be to play with you, Phil?" Chan also commented to Phil that "you aren't playing against a bunch of internet players here," when Phil was making his little fishass min-raises and everybody was coming over the top of him and making him fold. Chan thinks that Hellmuth is just as big a donkey as the other players in the Big Game do. |

"That maniac pushed all-in with pocket 7's" [/ QUOTE ] Oh yeah, when he opened with AQ and Magriel reraised with 77 and he pushed. Phil Hellmuth: Passing up 80/20 edges early so he can take 45/55 edges later. |

Re: Ridiculous Phil Hellmuth quotes
From earlier this morning, from Card Player's updates:
[ QUOTE ] After a player pushes all-in, Phil Hellmuth tells him "Online you might be able to push people all-in and have them call all the time, but its not going to work with me. I'm a 9 time Hold-Em champion." After Hellmuth's advice, the player tells Phil that's great, and asks if he can just keep his advice to himself next time. [/ QUOTE ] |

In that Paul Magriel thread from a while back, one poster said that Magriel turning to Hellmuth and saying "off to the races" was the creepiest thing he'd ever seen. I think that's ridiculous, which is why it's funny. |
