[ QUOTE ]
Sometimes I get the feeling that the drafters of the constitution didn't know what greenhouse gasses were. [/ QUOTE ] Luckily, we have this whole amendment process that makes things like that irrelevant. |

[ QUOTE ] Really, why does anyone object to research on this matter? [/ QUOTE ] Nobody opposes research on this matter. They oppose government funding of it, and for good reason. It's not authorized by the constitution. [/ QUOTE ] Not to mention that it's stealing. |

[ QUOTE ]
Is hope for a plan > no hope for a plan? [/ QUOTE ] No not when the plan has a 0% chance of doing anything about the problem (if a problem that something can be done about even exists) and yet will increase the burden of government onto everyone. |

[ QUOTE ] Beyond money for alternative energy research and subsidies, I actually don't know. I imagine there's more depending on the individual politician. I don't think ratifying Kyoto would be a policy priority for Hillary or Obama. A couple guesses: a carbon tax designed to make burning fossil fuels and a cap & trade system separate from Kyoto for CO2. I don't think a majority of Dems support either proposal. [/ QUOTE ] So in reality the Democrats don't have a plan for stopping global warming. No reason to vote for Democrats based on that issue. Put another way, if global warming is key issue for you, if you vote for a Democrat you're only hoping that they come up with a plan. Your vote is based in part at least on faith. [/ QUOTE ] The Dems may or may not do something significant about global warming but the GOP almost certainly will not. |

Nor should it be for the US. Kyoto should be scrapped, period. |

I suspect the Dems would be quicker to do something dumb like jacking up the CAFE standards than something smart like a carbon tax.

I forgot about CAFE. The Dems are in favor of increasing CAFE standards.
